Osteopathy
What is a DOMP?
A DOMP is a practitioner that uses manual techniques such as massage, stretching, and manipulation to promote overall health and facilitate the body’s natural capacities of healing.
Pediatric osteopathy
Manual osteopathic treatment for your baby and your children can help remove tensions that can impair the alignment and development. This can help prevent health and growth problems for your little one. Babies and children respond much faster to osteopathic treatment than adults, allowing for smooth and easy treatments. Here are some common reasons for mothers and babies to consult in osteopathy:
- Congenital torticollis
- Breastfeeding: latching and suction
- Digestive issues: colic, constipation, regurgitation
- Ear, sinus and lung infections
- Cone shaped head
- Postural tensions
- Motor development issues
- Eye alignment
- Routine check-up session
Who can benefit from seeing an osteopath?
Individuals that experience pain and movement restrictions can benefit from consulting a DOMP.
This includes individuals experiencing musculoskeletal pain, such as back or neck pain, as well as those seeking relief from conditions like headaches, sports injuries, arthritis, or even digestive issues.
Individuals looking to improve their overall health and well being.
What does a session look like?
Sessions can vary from 40 minutes to 60 minutes.
Initially, an osteopath will start by talking with you to understand your medical situation and history, and what current issues you are having.
Next, the practitioner will perform an assessment of the body to identify potential issues related to your symptoms.
Using hands-on techniques like massage and gentle manipulation, the DOMP will work to address the issues identified.
Your DOMP will likely also offer advice on exercises and lifestyle changes to help you achieve your goals.
Follow-up appointments may be suggested to track progress.
